I’ve always thought that drinks and cocktails are an important part of a great meal. I have a lot of recipes that I’ve kept over the years, but I’ve also discovered several new recipes based on all the flavored liquors and liqueurs that are available now. The recipes in this section will be arranged according to the categories that I have come up with as kind of a general description of the types of drinks that I’ve made for dinners and cocktail parties. Traditional Cocktails – The “old school,” traditional cocktails made with the classic liquors like bourbon, scotch, gin, vodka, rum, tequila and brandy. Specialty Drinks – Multiple liquors and juices that are mixed to create a unique flavor combination, sometimes combined to taste like something familiar such as a Hawaiian Punch, a California Lemonade, or a Long Island Iced Tea. Martini Drinks – The wave of the future… it’s unbelievable what people call a martini today. With all the different flavored liquors, the variety of martinis seems endless. Using your imagination you can create just about any flavor of “martini”. Hot Drinks – A hot drink is a great way to “kick up” a cup of coffee after a delicious meal or to warm you up after an afternoon out in the cold, snowy air of a Wisconsin winter. Hot drinks can also be made with hot tea or chocolate, hot cider or other juices and hot buttered rum batter. Ice Cream Drinks – A mixture of ice cream or sherbet and liqueurs make a great combination for an alternative to a dessert. Non Alcoholic Drinks – This includes smoothies, juice drinks and shakes, as well as the “virgin” versions of a Bloody Mary or a Margarita. Mixes & Garnishes – I will provide my homemade recipes or recommend store-bought brands for the mixers you need to make all these drinks.
