33rd Street Bistro is a great local neighborhood bar and restaurant in Sacramento.
There is one thing they serve that I just can’t get enough of. It’s their Oregon Blue Salad that’s been on their menu a long time, maybe since they opened in 1995. This salad consists of boneless skin on chicken thighs that are cut into smaller pieces, deep fried and tossed in Louisiana hot sauce. They are served on crisp romaine lettuce with a blue cheese dressing and chopped walnuts. I love this salad because I get my Buffalo wing fix without having to eat the meat off the bones and, since it’s a salad, I feel I’m doing something somewhat healthy. I think it’s my all-time favorite salad.
“33rd” (as we like to call it) is located in East Sacramento very close to our former residence. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with everything from small plate appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and pizzas to heavier entrees, many of them inspired by the owner/chef’s time spent in the Pacific Northwest. There is a “Northwest (Salmon) Scramble” on the breakfast menu, and “Crab Louie Salad”, “Skuna Bay Salmon”, several panini with names like “Pike’s Market Wrap” and “The Rainier” and “The Puget Sound”, all on the lunch/dinner menu. One of my partner’s favorite items is the “Tomato Basil Soup” garnished with olive oil and parmesan. We’ve liked most everything we’ve ever ordered at 33rd because it’s all made with farm fresh ingredients. They also have a full bar and a few TV’s to watch your local teams. (Sorry no NFL ticket) There are daily cocktail specials, like the “Honey Lux Martini” we enjoyed for St. Patrick’s Day a while back. All in all, it’s a nice casual place, always filled with locals from the neighborhood and a consistently tasty menu.
Even though we moved several miles out of the neighborhood, we still return for great food and drinks. I know you will enjoy this place as much as we have…. and still do.
