“Hello Dolly” Bars are one of my all time favorite dessert bars. As early as I can remember, we would always have them at our house at Christmas time. My Mom occasionally made them at other times of the year, but I have always associated them with the Christmas season. To this day we still will have them at the family Christmas celebration.
I’ve never really thought much about the origin of the name for these bars. I’m assuming that these bars were created around the time of the “Hello Dolly” musical or movie. If anybody knows the actual source of the name, let me know.
One Christmas my brother made the bars using Ghirardelli 60% dark chocolate chips. I liked them even more…. I guess I am a real fan of dark chocolate. You could try making them with any kind of chip or chips. I have seen them in some online recipes made with a mixture of two different kinds of chips, such as milk chocolate and butterscotch. I may try some other combinations, but I am more likely to stick with the winner in my book: Dark Chocolate!

I had way too many of these over the last couple of days. They only seem to get better with time. I’m a coconut fan with a weakness for mounds and almond joy candy bars, and for those with similar tastes, you’ll definitely go for these.
