Hot Buttered Rum is a drink with rum, butter, sugar, spices and either hot water or apple cider. I first discovered it while working as a bartender at TGI Fridays. After making the hot buttered rum batter countless times, I finally decided to try the drink and found that I just loved the smooth, savory flavor.
TGIF’s recipe called for gold rum and hot water along with the buttered rum batter. Since then I have tried several different
combinations using different rums like Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and Bacardi White Rum. Recently, I have tried hot unfiltered apple juice instead of the water. So far, I’d have to say my favorite combination would have to be apple juice and Kraken Spiced Rum.
